P1 vs Streamyx

Recently, P1 Wimax is having humongous advertisement around Malaysia, and it attract my eye with the very nice and trendy look modem, and of cause, the lowest price(RM49) with 400kbps amound all the service provider.

l I have been a loyal fan to Streamyx since few years, but serious, the service is very bad and the speed, well, most of the people who using streamyx should know, SUCKS... I had changed my package for many time from 512k to 1mb and back to 512k again, because the speed gave no different. Until last year, after streamyx claimed to upgrade the facilities around my Penang house area(Chai Leng Park), the internet drop from acceptable speed to slower then dial up. Lots of complain made, and the speed only reclaim to 100k plus.

I tried Maxis 3G 384k broadband, but not much to say, the speed DAMN SUCKS, and the connection always drop or unable to connect at all.

Standard Plan

So, last week, i made up my mind, given P1 a chance to convince me, i brought back the 400kpbs package. plugged into my house wireless router, with some setting for sharing the router tables info, and switched to no dial up needed, immediate i am getting my connection.
i did some testing with different site as below coming from different service provider to make sure the result is consistent all around.

Well guest what, my 400kbps package are actually getting exactly 400kbps of download speed, or sometime even higher (430kpbs). well the cons is that the upload speed is very slow ( around 80kpbs), after all, who need to have such a high upload speed. Impressive, video call, youtube, etc, and the performance are fairly good compare to streamyx on value of price.

So the first thing i do the second day is rush to TMpoint to cancelled my streamyx account, they want me to go meet up with the manager discuss on why i want to cancel it when i say the QOS is so bad, straight i say no need and change the reason to financial problem. I am sick of complaining.

Lets hope P1 wont let me down again.

Pros -
  1. lowest range price (Rm49 for the lowest package with 400kbps include modem for 2 years contract)
  2. portability
  3. speed claim in package are exactly the same( for me)
  4. trendy modem with very low power consumption (less then 18W) and produce very low heat
  5. get month 13 free when sign for autopay using credit card

Cons -
  1. 5GB threshold ( acceptable for normal use), the speed might drop after 5GB with priority on area to other user without any charge
  2. low upload speed ( not important for normal household use as well)
  3. RM160 for the first bill ( Rm100 for registration and RM60 for activation)
  4. No port forward allow
  5. distorted when raining or cloudy day

Digital Door lock- Samsung Ezon SHS 1320

it has come into my mind since homedec visit last month, Digital Door Lock. The price is high, that is why it stop my move.

Since that day, the lock aways appear in my dream, and finally i start to make my research, and below is the result i get

  • cannot be open by any technique ( only password, tumprint or access card), even you have a door smith.
  • auto lock up if you forgotten to lock it
  • trigger alarm if improper attempt access
  • no easy clone
  • no key needed
the above sounds really good, but the main reason for me to have one is because, i had tried lock myself between my wooden door and the grill, without any key with me. Haha, lucky that i was able to break in as my assisting lock are a low quality cheap handle with build in lock given by the developer.

Action is the most important right now. searching around internet (ebay, lelong, etc) Samsung Ezon attract my eyes the most, because it comes with touch pad screen, ellegant design and most important, the price is fairly acceptable.

i bought from a seller in ebay, but of cause, without going through ebay...haha...underground deal, with fair cheap price.

At one of the sunny morning, i got a parcel. well, that is my Samsung Ezon SHS1320. open it and WTF, all the manual are in Korean. it sure was delivered from Korea, and you know, can't get it in Malaysia yet.

No hard installation. I had DIY installed it and been using for few days, and the conclusion is... GOOD!!!!!!!

Every One alert !!! dont hold phone even using handfree or loudspeaker

Well who knows, I almost got a saman today. Almost i mean...... paying under table to JPJ.

I heard alot of story about JPJ are very "clean" compare to Malaysia polis, i totally disagree as I have got with it more then twice, and they will just slander you which you are not allow to defense.

one which happen a while ago when back from Poppy with my friends driving. we meet up with JPJ and they request us to blow on the alcohol tester. the frist 3 time, then tester show ok, and the JPJ wont accept and keep asking my friend(driver) to blow again, with i think they did something to the tester. and finally the tester shows some result, and they slander my friend of over drink. well what can we say? under table with RM100.

Today, i on call with loudspeaker mode while driving, of cause, holding the phone on hand with steering wheel. Just on a corner turn from kuchai lama into KL Seremban highway, the JPJ suddenly jump out from the side and hit on my car back asking me to stop. I was told that i talk on a phone and i confese talking using loudspeaker.
Arr....what a stupid me!!!........there is where they start, you are not allow to take anything when driving, and loudspeaker is not allow as well.....i try to explain, but they keep threaten me of expensive saman will get. No choice that i need to pay for under table money for it again.

Well...a good experience of not to take the phone even you use loudspeaker or handsfree.....

Damm high parking rates at LCCT

today i go through a news with title "High Parking rate at LCCT". it attacted me hardly because i just came back last week from LCCT with cheap flight. and i encounter that the parking at LCCT is totally unreasonable expensive RM36 per day, even more expensive then my returned flight fare.

Well, what can I say? the parking is without shelter, the airport is far away from city, and parking is high. the only good thing i can think of is that the carpark is near to LCCT, which i believe everyone would rather pay less for park fee and walk more? Beside, we still havent include the tol plus petrol for it.

pay attention to the last sentence, amount the "cheapest"....Wow.... in the sense that, cheap service and facilities, with high charge rate right? and dont compare using currency conversion. other countries leaving standard are higher and income would definetely be high, with 1 to 1 convertion, the fare is killing..yet they still say cheapest among countries...what a funny statement.

lucky, that we still have cheap flight.

Malaysia Boleh!!Memang Boleh!!!!

The news i got from STAR newspaper:

High parking rates at LCCT

Story and photo by CHARLES FERNANDEZ

COMPARED with other airports like Singapore’s Changi and the Manila Inter-national Airport, parking at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang is considered high.

Frequent travellers claim that they have to fork out RM36 per day and RM40 if one uses the Touch & Go card.

David Tan from Puchong, in his e-mail said, for 24-hour parking, one only has to pay S$17.66 (about RM42) for a covered parking bay next to the Changi airport, 250 Baht a day (RM25) at the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok and 50 pesos per day (RM3.80) at the Manila international airport.

“We can go on giving examples such as the Clark airport in the Philippines and the Jakarta airport and it will still show that parking charges at the LCCT are exorbitant,’’ he said.

Too expensive: Motorists parking their vehicles on road dividers at the LCCT in Sepang to avoid paying for using the designated bays at the car park.

In the case of Changi airport, the charges are for a covered car park next to the airport while Stansted Airport in London, the £8.70 (RM46) charge includes a complimentary shuttle.

“We are charging very high when the car park is not covered although it is close to the airport,’’ said C.W Tang.

Tang, who had just come back from an overseas trip, said he had to pay RM108 for parking at the LCCT for three days.

“The airport authorities should bring down the cost to encourage more people to use the facilities,’’ he added.

Tang said parking rates at the LCCT used to be RM1 for the first two hours and RM2 for every subsequent hour. This, he said, is not cheap as compared with other airports.

There are 1,350 open-air parking bays at the LCCT now.

Since January 2007, the charges were RM2 for the first hour or part thereof with a motorist paying a maximum of RM4 for two hours.

However, from the third hour onwards, a motorist would have to pay RM2.50 and a cumulative sum of RM36.50 until the 16th hour.

“From the 16th to the 24th hour, the charges remain the same and the hourly rate will be reapplied after every 24 hours,’’ said Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad senior general manager (operation services) Datuk Azmi Murad.

He said the parking rates were inclusive of the 5% service tax as required by the government.

Azmi refuted claims that the cost of parking at the LCCT was high as compared to other airports.

“Travellers must understand that they have the option of parking very close to the airport. Our parking rates are also cheaper compared with many other international airports where the facilities are much lower in standard,’’ added Azmi.

He said there were not many airports that had their parking lots close to the main building and therefore it was unfair to make comparisons even if there were those which provided covered parking lots.

Azmi said MAHB frequently carried out comparison studies on parking charges at other international airports and had found that the charges at the LCCT were among the lowest.
